While my work-computer (Linux) is working for me I figured I would give you an update on my mac situation. It hasn't changed much since last time. iTunes still thinks I never used it before and wants to guide me through the intro-stuff whenever I start it (which I refuse to do as I've used it for years now), but at least the library memory hasn't been deleted. V. on the other hand is another story. I finally installed it on my home computer, because it doesn't shut down properly when I quit it (on my laptop) and hence doesn't write the right memory files and upon starting it again it can't see the files or how long it had been downloading the last time it was running. I managed to download something all the way, and also checked that the file was running properly, only to find it broken when I turned on my laptop the next day. I'm considering keeping my laptop on until I finish my PhD. I can't have it ruin something and set me back days, weeks or worse, even months, when my deadline is growing closer and closer way too fast..
Since last time:
- my I-hate-mac-feelings haven't grown neither bigger nor smaller
- I'm surprised everytime iTunes hasn't deleted my music library
- I'm backing up all my PhD dirs every night to prevent my mac from destroying them when "shutting down"
- I wanted to have the entire disk backuped and it's getting urgent but I never got that far..
- I decided to install leopard when the pressure at work is somewhat smaller and I actually have a few days to spend upgrading the system
