Mac SUCKS!!

Mac is biggest and most expensive piece of crap I have ever seen, even almost worse than Windows (although it takes some effort to beat Windows in sucking). It sucks so much it's a wonder I haven't thrown it out of the window yet. (I have tried beating it, but unfortunately it didn't help..) My mac computer has made me spend hours and hours trying to restore stuff that got deleted just because the mac people can't make better software. Deleting all my desktop and dashboard settings is normal - I've even made a script myself that backups these things so that I can just copy the old version back - although sometimes the mac doesn't like that, and decides to overwrite what I just told it was a valid version and not some damaged crap it created itself when shutting down un-properly. Because that is my mac's biggest challenge - shutting down. It's newest invention these days is to convert newly edited text files into something looking more like a binary file and is for sure unreadable. After 4 hours of masking (astronomy, increadibly boring stuff) I thought it was all saved when I shut down my computer for the night. Just to restart it the next morning and find that what used to be a nice ascii file was now so-called "binary". The program couldn't read it, I couldn't display it, it was all lost and now I need to do it all over again.

Since my mac decided to hate me so much, I decided to keep a little log over what it decides to do next. I'll give you an update every week, and if (against all odds) after 4-5 weeks you still feel like buying a mac, you can get mine - for free!! :-D You just need to buy me a proper computer. I think mac did a huge mistake in lowering their prices, because it's obvious that all of their software has suffered tremendously - including that of their most expensive computers.

Here's my list! What my mac is pissing me off with the most these days are:
- converting my text files into unreadable "binary" files, which means that all my work was for nothing since I have to re-write everything all over again
- deleting my desktop and dashboard settings, including the dock settings. I know the firefox bookmarks and all my iCal dates will be deleted soon too, so I'm trying to update the backup of those as often as possible
- iTunes thinks I'm new to iTunes every time I start it, and wants me to go through the whole "get started" crap. When that's finally done it forgot I had lots of music and how it was all sorted in folders, so having to do that all over again was such a pain. Sometimes it accepts me using an older version of the iTunes Library, but not always..

My fears of what it might do next:
- decide to convert ALL my files to "binary" files, so ALL of my work is deleted. I won't get a PhD done that way..
- piss me off so much that I one day throw it in the floor and wreck the whole thing myself

I will have to:
- spend another week of useless work copying everything to an external harddisk and wiping the whole computer (that will be so sweet, seeing it die for the last time!!)
- either install leopard and sell it on ebay (for 1 euro) or
- install linux and forget mac ever existed - which is really tempting right now
